Define an active member
A visible account is not necessarily a participating person. Decide what meaningful membership looks like for your server: joining a weekly event, sharing work, answering questions, or returning to chat.
Avoid confusing a higher counter with a healthier community. The useful measure is whether people find something they want to return to.
Reach people with a shared interest
Start with a clear topic and a welcoming first experience. Partner with adjacent communities when invitations are welcome. Share useful work in appropriate channels and explain why your server is relevant.
Ask satisfied members to invite people who would enjoy the same activities. Keep any invitation campaign transparent, and avoid unsolicited mass messages.

- Measure retention and participation by invitation source.
Understand what a listing promises
A member product does not automatically mean active, interested people. Read the delivery description carefully and ask how the result is defined. Do not assume purchased member counts produce organic conversation.
If your goal is a lasting community, prioritize activities, moderation, and a clear purpose. Server upgrades can improve the experience, but cannot replace it.
